Every couple of months I get on a hand stitching high. Well, I am on a hand stitching high right now. When I moved a couple of months ago, I was stuck in a hotel room for two weeks and I fell back in love with hand work. There has been a Sew Along that I have been eyeing for almost a year but hadn't had the time to actually sit down and do it.
The Hand Pieced Quilt Along is not just hand quilting, it's hand piecing as well!! Dear Jesus. I don't know why that scares me, women did it for hundreds of years, but hand piecing is a big mountain that I'm not sure I trust myself on. But I'm going to do it anyway.
I trotted down to Sewtropolis here in Minneapolis and picked out a few fat quarters and some background fabric. I also stopped by Michaels and grabbed a ruler and new scissors because if I'm going to do this, I'm going to go all the way, cutting pieces by hand. I'm crazy. I know. But I'm the kind of person that goes all the way.

I'm excited to cut my pieces out and try my hand at this vintage skill. I think this will be an awesome project to do on the plane or the bus, so I will keep you updated on my progress.
Update: I have completed two blocks and am working on my third!
Block 1: Churn Dash

Block 2: Jacob's Ladder

Block 3: Ohio Star (cut out)
